dc.description.abstractThis paper discusses a new method to compute the determinant of a matrix of order 3  3 , i.e the determinant computation using three schemes formed by removal the elements of a matrix of order 3  3 . The schemes are easier to understand in computation of the determinant of a matrix of order 3  3 , than the existing method. This new method can be used as an alternative method to compute the determinant of a matrix of order 3  3 , than existing methods, such as Sarrus’s rule, Chio’s condensation method, the triangle rule and the Dodgson’s condensation method. This method is called "New Alternative Method".en_US
