Abstract
Lignocellulosic-based biomass is widely used as the basic material for making
supercapacitor cell carbon electrodes, because it can be produced repeatedly which
is economical and environmentally friendly. In this research, carbon electrodes
were made from a coffee bean waste biomass by optimizing the chemical activation
process. The process of making this supercapacitor cell electrode is through a precarbonization
process, chemical activation with ZnCl2 impregnation with variations
in concentrations of 0.1 M, 0.2 M and 0.3 M, carbonization using N2 gas at a
temperature of 600˚ C and physical activation using CO2 gas with temperature
800˚C. The highest density shrinkage value is owned by the ABK-03 sample, which
is 19.62%. The lowest density value is found at the ABK-03 carbon electrode,
which is 0.79 gcm-3.
