Abstract
This study aims to obtain explanations of the existence of the valuc of Social Culture on
Malay Customary People Pelalawan Riau Province, where the social valuc has an important meaning in order to make the MclayuPclalawan conmnunity has identity and dignity.According to historical records, in the past MelayuPelalawan pcople had animism-dinamism beliefs, then in the VII/VIfl century AD or the finst century of the Hijri ycar, MclayuPclalawan's have become acquainted with Islam brought by Muslim traders from the Middle East.So thc culture that is the guidance, orientation and control of behavior and all the actions of the Malays.Because of acculturation and the process time to produce a
new civilization.Pelalawan district government has been instrumental in perpetuating cultural values, but in realizing the programs and cfforts to preserve the development of socio-cultural values arc always faced with the supporting and inhibiting factors.This rescarch is carricd out with qualitative
approach, according to Bogdan (1992) *qualitative approach is social, cultural and philosophy research procedure which producc dcscriptivc data in the form of words or notes related to meaning, value and understanding".Sources of data and iformation collected through interviews and literature on the study of socio-cultural values in Pclalawan socicty of Riau Province are;1) Indigenous leaders, community Teaders, cultural, and community:2) LKAM of Pelalawan Regency, and3)The literature available.The
Tesult of the study is that in Pclalawan Mclayu socicty there is a set of socio-cultural values that have been rooted and aligned in the life of the society, socio-cultural values of socety such as language, tnbal, mysticism, marriage, literature, poem, and arts.These superior cultural valucs are instrumental in the development.
