Abstract
Supercapacitors are renewable energy storage devices that have good cycle
performance consisting of components, namely electrodes, electrolytes, current
collectors, and separators. Electrodes are one of the most important components in
supercapacitors because they can improve the performance of supercapacitor cells. The
process of making carbon electrodes carried out is the pre-carbonization process,
chemical activation with 0.5 M KOH activator, the carbonization process using N2 gas
at a temperature of 600 C and physical activation using CO2 gas at a temperature of
800 C. The carbon electrodes were given the sample code CBM-05. The results of the
characterization of the physical properties of the carbon electrode obtained a density
with a mass loss percentage value of 31.52%. Characterization of electrochemical
properties of CBM-05 supercapacitor cells obtained a specific capacitance value of 158
F/g. The results of the characterization of physical properties and electrochemical
properties showed that carbon electrodes could be made from mango seed shell
biomass which can improve the performance of supercapacitor cells..
