Abstract
The study was conducted from February to March 2012 in the Laboratory of Parasitic Diseases of Fish Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, University of Riau. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of curcuma on non-specific resistance of carp (Cyprinus carpio) infected A. hydrophila (leukocytes, hematocrit, leukokrit, phagocytic activity and other types of leukocytes).
This study used five treatments, 1) Kp: positive control (without giving a solution of curcuma and the infection A. hydrophila), 2) Kn: negative control (without a solution of curcuma and without the infection of A. hydrophila), 3) P1: curcuma 0.2 g / l, 4) P2: curcuma 0.4 g / l, 5) P3: curcuma 0.6 g / l. The average leukocyte activity and phagocytosis after soaking the highest and significantly different treatment P3 P <0.05 where for an average of 22.25 ribu/mm3 and leukocyte phagocytosis activity by 27.20%. Average A. hydrophila infected leukocytes after the highest yield in treatment P3 (27.70 ribu/mm3) showed no significantly different P> 0.05 and phagocytic activity after A. hydrophila infection was highest in treatment P3 (31.70%) showed different real P <0.05. it can be concluded that the use of solution with a concentration curcuma of 0.6 g / l can increase the resistance of the fish.
