Abstract
Swimming speed and endurance of baung (Hemibagrus sp)(FL =
16.13 ±1.14 cm) observed in swimming channel. Swimming speed has
negative correlation to the endurance time. The endurance time was
decreased when the swimming speed increased. Sustained swimming
speed was less than 2.5 BL/s, corresponded to 40.3 cm/s and burst
swimming speed was up to 10.5 BL/s, corresponded to 169.4 cm/s.
Prolonged swimming speed was 2.5-10.5 BL/s (40.3-169.4 cm/s).
Sustained swimming speed are recommended for fish-farming in
aquaculture cage. Burst swimming speed was illustrated swimming speed
of fish to escape and avoid the gear in capture process.
