| dc.description.abstract | This study aimed to describe the factors that cause code mixing, function of code mixing, and type of code mixing in the interfering speech Negeri Lima Menara’s character. This study used descriptive method. The technique used in this study is the technique of reading and write. Data in this study is conversation utterances in Negeri Lima Menara novel. The results of this study showed a 9 factors cause code that is custom mixed speakers, cultural background speakers, speaker wishes to explain something, educational level speakers, not the exact equivalents, less controlled vocabulary used, increased prestige, a sense of regionalism and religious, and the desire feature mind. The function of code mixing is said to create a situation that is more familiar and relaxed speakers indicate emotional closeness with a particular language, explain the meaning to be conveyed speakers, speaker asserts or emphasizes purpose, as a form of homage to the opponents said, represent something to be conveyed speakers, show a sense of regionalism, opponents said offset language, and demonstrate the value or religious sense. The types of code mixing contained code outside interference, interfering into the code, and mix code mixing. | en_US |
