Abstract
The research was conducted from October until December 2012 in The Sedanau Island
Cages, West Bunguran District, Natuna Regency, Riau Island Province. The aim of the research
was to improve the regression equation of water quality parameters and the Napoleon fish
(Cheilinus undulatus) growth. Water quality, was obtained from 5 stasions.
Results shown that fishes were commonly reared for 3 months and total growth during the
rearing period were, 24 - 25 g in 1st month, 26 - 28 g in 2nd month and 31- 32 g in 3rd month.
While the quality in The Sedanau Islands was : temperature 29 - 310C, brightness 100 - 320 cm,
current speed 0.16 - 2.20 m/s, pH 7-8, oxygen 4.35 - 9.86 mg/l, NH3-N 0.001 - 0.037 mg/l,
Phytoplankton density 48107 - 54385 cells/ml, zooplankton density 11388 - 19345 cells/ml.
Regression equation of fish growth and water quality parameters were as follow : temperature y
= -0.708x + 49.34 R² = 0.017;r = 0.131, brightness y = 0.016x + 24.66 R² = 0.120; r =
0.378,current speed y = 2.962x + 26.34 R² = 0.426 ; r = 0.653, pH y = -2.016x + 43.21 R² =
0.092 ; r = 0.30, oxygen y = -0.915x + 34.71 R² = 0.137 ; r = 0.37, NH3-N y = -49.58x + 28.84
R² = 0.016 ; r = 0.13. Results shown that current speed and oxygen was made the strongly
available with LPH the Napoleon fish as follow : current speed : 42% and Oxygen : 13.7%.
