Zinc oxide (ZnO) is a metal oxide semiconductor that has wide applications in various fields and can be produced in various forms of microstructure. The manufacture of ZnO using the green synthesis method was chosen as an alternative step to replace chemical and physical methods, using natural ingredients derived from plant extracts. In this study, ZnO was synthesized using pineapple peel extract (Ananas comosus) by varying the growth temperature, namely 40˚C and 80˚C. Sample characterizations were carried out such as UV-Vis spectroscopy, and FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared) to determine the level of absorbance, and functional groups of ZnO samples. Based on the results of the UV-Vis spectrum, the absorbance peak of the ZnO sample is in the range of 300-361 nm with band gap energy 3.25 eV and 3.24 eV. The FTIR spectrum shows the functional groups present in the sample, such as C=C, C=O and O-H derived from polyphenol compounds in the synthesis process and Zn-O contained in the wave number 483 cm-1.en_US
