Abstract
Blackberry Smartphone is a mobile device that has the ability to push e-mail, telephone, SMS, surf the internet, Messenger (BlackBerry Messenger), and various other wireless capabilities. Social groups may occur in the given features Blackberry Smartphone, Blackberry Messangger mainly features. Formation of social groups can be initiated by the perception, feeling or motivation, organization, independence, interaction, and common purpose in meeting their needs. This study aims to determine how the responses of students of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences University of Riau on the formation of social groups that occur on Blackberry Messangger, and how responses regarding the meaning of the Blackberry smartphone itself. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative, ie giving prediket the variables examined in accordance with the actual conditions. Data collection using observation, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The number of samples in this study were 30 people, taken according to the instructions of the previous respondents who fit the criteria referred to by researchers or Snaowball Sampling.
The results showed that the formation of social groups that occur in the user group among students FISIP Blackberry Messangger UR quite influenced by perception, feeling or motivation, independence, interaction, and goals. While the organization is not required for the formation of the group Messangger Blackberry. Regarding the meaning of the Blackberry Smartphone, Blackberry Smartphones functional utilization was sufficient maximum conducted by Faculty of Social UR students. But the intensity of use that is often insignificant impact on social norms that have been established previously. Norms of decency and ethics talk is lost and this time it has become normal in some circles.
