Abstract:
The adsorption ability of fish scale jelawat (Leptobarbus hoevani) has been studied for the
removal Pb(II) in aqueous solution. The adsorption experiments were conducted at each
shaker times of 5, 10, 20, 30, 45, 60, 90, 120 and 180 minutes. All of the experiments were
done at 120 rpm, initial optimum concentration of 36,721 mg/L and mass of adsorbat at 0,1
g. The amount of Pb (II) adsorbed by the adsorbents was measured by Atomic Absorption
Spectrophotometer (AAS). The result showed the uptake capacity of fish scales was 3,1967
mg/g at initial concentration of 36,721 mg/L and temperature 30oC. The optimum time of
shaker was 120 minute (30oC). All data were fitted to kinetic models of the pseudo-first
order and second order to determine the adsorption behavior. The data were found to follow
pseudo second-order for value R2 are 0,988 (30oC).
