ABSTRACT
The research is motivated because there is still the lack of skills to make makrame crafts at SDN 004 Bangkinang Seberang. Learning in this school is only to learn the material without refers to the curriculum and not practice directly, so that it results the low skills of students. The purpose of this research is the implementation of direct learning model to improve the making of makrame’s skill at fifth grade student of SDN 004 Bangkinang Seberang. The subjects were 26 students of SDN 004 Bangkinang Seberang. The research was conducted in two cycles, the cycle I held two meetings and the second cycle was also conducted two meetings. Data collection instrument in this study is the observation sheet student, teacher observation sheets, assessment processes, assessment of results and assessment of the making of makrame’s skill. The research model is classroom action research (CAR). The results of this research shows that after using a direct learning model, it improves the making of makrame’s skill of fifth grade student at SDN 004 Bangkinang Seberang, an increase of the average value of 66.34 at the beginning of the first cycle average 72.03 students, an increase of 5 , 69 (21.88%) of the results of the initial data. While on the second cycle the average value of students increased to 86.36 and increased by 14.33 (55.11%). From the results of the first cycle assessment makrame average percentage of teachers in implementing active learning in the first cycle is 67.5% categorized well and in the second cycle increased 90% considered excellent. Increased percentage of average active teachers from cycle I to cycle II is as much as 22.5%. The average percentage of active student learning in the first cycle 62.5% categorized as good, and in the second cycle the average percentage of active student learning that is 85%, increasing and very well categorized.
