Abstract
This article discusses variational iteration method using a polynomial He. This
method is used to form a compacton -like solution and a solitary solution for a
nonlinear dispersive equation. The given initial solution is used to determine a
compacton-like solution or a solitary solution with some unknown parameters, which
may be determined in the solution procedure. A compacton-like solution and solitary
solution can be converted one another.
