Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of using video media to improve
student skills in the measurement of growth and development of children. This study is
experimental design with posttest-only control design to 10 respondents as intervention group and
11 respondent as control group. The respondent in this study are nursing student.in 1 group
practice of measure the growth and development, academic year 2011/2012. The data collected by
the form of practice. The analysis of data descriptive and independent t test. The results showed
that respondent better grades in measurement of growth and development of children (100%
intervention group dan 90,9% control group). Independent t test results that there are differences in
the average value of the ability of respondents between the intervention group (85.21) and the
control group (84.08) in the examination of growth and development of children, but the alpha of
5% is no different to significantly the average value skill of student in the measurement growth
and development of children between the intervention group and the control group (p value =
0.422). Video as media can be applied to all subjects in practice to increase the skill of nursing
students.
