Abstract:
This study aims to improve learning outcomes by applying the IPS model of the learning
concept maps second grade students of SD Negeri 40 Pematang Pudu Kecamatan Mandau.
The research was conducted in the first week to the fourth week of March in 2013. The
subjects were students of class II in SD Negeri 40 Pematang Pudu Kecamatan Mandau by the
number of 33 students, which consisted of 19 male students and 14 female students. The
results can be seen from the daily tests, the first daily test on the first cycle with an average of
75.45 and a second daily test on the second cycle of 81.21 so average improvement of student
learning outcomes from basic score to the first cycle of 16.36 or 27.69% and the second cycle
was 5.76 or 37.43%. There are 26 students who passed the daily test on the first cycle, on a
daily test on secon cycle was increased, the number of students who pass is 33 people. The
implementation of the activities of teachers in the first cycle reaches 73.5% with both
categories, the activity of second cycle was increased to 90% of teachers with excellent
category. Activities of students in the first cycle to 65% with both categories and increased in
the second cycle to 84% with excellent category. From the results of this research is that the
application of the concept map learning learning model can result to greater social studies
grade II in SD Negeri 40 Pematang Pudu Kecamatan Mandau.
