Abstract:
The purpose of this research is to improve student learning result by implementing
cooperative learning model word square in fourth grade in SD Negeri 47 Air Jamban.
Based on the observation and analysis, it is known that the results of the fourth grade
social studies students is still low. The low student learning result are caused by the
teacher always use the lecture method, and the lack of variation in learning so students
are less active in learning. The conclusion of the low achievement of students, researchers
apply cooperative learning model word square, with PTK observasion design, data
collection instruments using observation sheets teacher activity, student activity sheets
observation and a written test of daily test. From the analysis of the data obtained by the
average student learning result at baseline was 55.41, in the first cycle increased to 62.70,
and the second cycle increased again to 80.41. Activities of teachers and students also
increased. Activities of teachers in the first cycle was 75% (categorized good) and the
second cycle was 95% (categorized very well). While the activities of students in the first
cycle was 70% (categorized good) and the second cycle was 91% (categorized very well).
Based on the analysis of these data it can be concluded that by implementing cooperative
learning model word square can improve learning result of students in fourth grade in SD
Negeri 47 Kecamatan Mandau Kabupaten Bengkalis.
