Abstract:
The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between mother’s knowledge in giving playing stimulation with toddler’s development. The design of this research is a correlation study/descriptive correlation. This research had been done in Meranti Pandak, Rumbai Pesisir district with samples as 86, using cross sectional approach. The samples were taken by cluster sampling technique. Measuring instrument are KPSP form (Pre-Screening Questionnaire Development) and questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Analysis is used univariate and bivariate analysis using Spearman correlation test. The results shows a significant correlation between mother’s knowledge in giving playing stimulation with toddler’s development (pvalue = 0.000). Spearman correlation values indicate that the direction of correlation is positive (unidirectional) with moderate strength correlation (r = 0.519). Results of this study recommends that health workers need to disseminate to the mothers about playing stimulation that useful to optimize the child's development, which is expected to increase mother’s knowledge so mother can provide appropriate playing stimulation based on child development stages.
