Abstract:
Problem background in this research is the low of students learning outcome on the class IV A SD
Negeri 55 Pekanbaru with average value 63,08. From 34 students there are 20 people (58,82%)
which not reached KKM, while reached KKM only 14 people (41,17%). Formulation of the
problem in this research is “Is applying Cooperative Learning model STAD type can increase the
mathematics learning outcome of students on the class IV A SD Negeri 55 Pekanbaru?” The
objective of this research is to improve the mathematics learning outcome of students on the class
IV A SD Negeri 55 Pekanbaru. This research was conducted on second semester on March 2013.
The subject of this research are the students on the class IV A SD Negeri 55 Pekanbaru with
amount 34 people, consist of 21 male students and 13 female students. The form of this research is
Classroom Action Research. This research was conducted in two cycles, that is four times meeting
of material and twice daily repetition. Data collecting instruments of this research are teacher and
student observation sheets and also learning outcome test. After applied the Cooperative Learning
model STAD type, then result of research indicate that teacher and student activities improve. In
cycle I, teacher’s activities with percentage mean 76,25% (Good) increased in cycle II equal to
18,5% become 95% (Very Good). While percentage of student’s learning activities in cycle I was
72,50% (Good) increased in cycle II equal to 20% become 92,50% (Very Good). The mean of
students learning outcome improve from basic score 63,08 increased become 75,58 in cycle I,
increased again become 86,32 in cycle II. While classical complete in cycle I and cycle II reached.
It means that applying Cooperative Learning model STAD type can increase the mathematics
learning outcome of students on the class IV A SD Negeri 55 Pekanbaru
