PERTUMBUHAN CACING TANAH (Perionyx sp) DALAM MEDIA LIMBAH PELEPAH SAWIT DAN KOTORAN AYAM

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of palm sheath waste and chicken manure at various levels as growth media of earthworms (Perionyx sp). Parameters measured were increasing body weight and the amount of coccon produced. Experiment is designed as completely random (DCR) with five treatments, M1 (100% palm sheath waste); M2 (75% palm sheath waste + 25% chicken manure); M3 (50% palm sheath waste + 50% chicken manure); M4 (25% palm sheath waste + 75% chicken manure) and M5 (100% chicken manure). Body weight and the number of coccons produced were analyzed statistically using analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by DMRT with 5% significance level. The results showed that the increase of body weight as well as the number of coccon produced among the treatments were significantly different (P > 0,05). The M2 media which consist of 75% palm sheath waste + 25% chicken manure produced the largest increase of body weight and coccon production.
