Abstract:
The purposes of this research are to know about:1) description of ability to empathize
students from PNS family class X before the implementation of group counseling,2)
description of ability to empathize of students from PNS familiy class X after the
implementation of group counseling,3)the differences between ability to empathize students
from PNS family class X before and after the implementation group counseling,4) the
influence of group counseling forability to empathize students from PNS family.The
population in this research were all students from PNS family in class X SMK
Muhammadiyah 2 Pekanbaru,and the total of sample is 17 people with the technique of
"purposive sampling".The method used was a quasi experiment One Group: one group pre-test and post-test design.To find out the ability to empathize of students from PNS familiy
used IE scale.Analyze datas was conducted using percentage statistical techniques, to
difference ability to empathize of students before and after conducted group counseling
used"t" test.Of calculations "t" test obtained tcalculation is bigger than ttable
(16,15 > 2,056 ) at
5% level.Therefore Ho is rejected and Ha accepted, which means there is a difference before
and after conducted group counseling for ability to empathize of students from PNS family
class X SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Pekanbaru school year 2012/2013.Then from the calculation
of the product momen r = 0.72 determinant coefficient r

= 0.51.Thus it can be seen, the
influence of group counseling services for ability to empathize students from PNS family
class X SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Pekanbaru school year 2012/2013 is very strong, that is
51%.Based on the results of research conducted, it can be concluded after the counseling
group, ability to empathize students from PNS family have been increased.
