Abstract:
The
research purposes to: 1) discover the reflection of the students‟ interpersonal intelligence
level before the group counseling was applied. 2) to find out the figure of the students‟
interpersonal intelligence level after the group coun seling was applied. 3) to realize the
differences between the students‟ interpersonal intelligence level before and after the group
counseling was applied. 4) to know the effect of the group counseling on the improvement of
the students‟ Interpersonal Inte lligence level. The research‟s data collection instrument used
scale interpersonal intelligence . The research population involved all the second grade of the
office administration program students of SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Pekanbaru in amounting
127 students. The sample determination considered the students who have the mediocre and
low interpersonal intelligence level (purposive sampling) , and the sample of this research was
20 students. The figure of the students‟ interpersonal intelligence before the group counseling
was applied is in the mediocre category at 70% and low category at 30%. Meanwhile, the
reflection of the students‟ interpersonal intelligence after the treatment is in the mediocre
category at 85% and high category at 15%. Based on the result of the correlation coefficient
between X1 and X
2 is at 0,69 and the determinant coefficient r

= 47,61%, it can be shown
that the value of t
t ally is bigger than T t able (12,76 > 2,021 ), then, Ho is rejected and Ha is
accepted. It can be concluded that there is an effect of the group counseling on the
Interpersonal Intelligence level of the second grade of the O ffice Administration Program
Students of SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Pekanbaru in Academic Year 2012/2013
