Perjuangan Masyarakat Dumai Sebagai Kota Administratif Menuju Kota Madya Di Era Reformasi Tahun 1998-1999

Abstract

This study was conducted with a background in public when rushing efouria reform blasphemy against a regime under Soeharto's rule, Dumai stretching its potential to be a stand-alone autonomous regions namely improving the status of a city that before his Associate Administrative City of Dumai is Bengkalis. This study aims to determine how the background of people's aspirations and how the struggle of the people in the fight for improving the status of Dumai into autonomous regions. In the writing of this paper the author uses historical and documentary methods with qualitative methods of data analysis in the form of descriptions that are supported by data and facts. Sources of data obtained from informants who participate directly as well as documents and historical heritage. The results showed that people struggle Dumai done directly on the initiative of the community through the Community Reform Committee Dumai (KRMD) in 1998 to 1999. Carried in the struggle ranging from local governments to aspire to the central government in Jakarta, and eventually resulted in the formation of the Municipality of Dumai and ratified by Law No. 16 Year 1999.
