dc.description.abstract The purpose of this study was to determine the public perception of the gold mining activities without a permit and to determine the cause of the people involved in mining activities. The usefulness of this research is the results of this study are expected give contribute on ideas for the development of the sociology science, particularly in assessing and addressing issues related to the public perception of mining activity without permission and as inputs and information for other researchers to further study, so that it can adding and completing reference for other studies as well as beneficial to the development of the academic world in the future. About location of the study, the authors will discuss public perception of the gold mining activities without permission in Village -Subdistrict, Regency. To obtain the necessary data in this study, the author collected data by interviewing and using questionnaire, data obtained from both primary and secondary data, data are grouped according to the characteristics of each data, and then simplified onto tabulation. While data analysis conducted with descriptive-qualitative. The results showed that most of peoples do not agree with gold mining activities without permission, it is clear that the activity can give bad effects on environmental degradation and pollutions, waste of mineral resources, mining acc riots in the mining areas following the development of the culture of criminal, gambling, ion and other moral decline. The cause why people involved in mining activities, namely economic factors, technological advances, lack of job opportunities, the financiers, and the lack of control in the mining activity. The conclusion of this study that the gold mining activities without a permit is not good for people's lives, which is obvious the bad effect of mining activities, need the awareness for the miners to stop mining activity. en_US
