Abstract:
The purpose of this study to determine the effect of competence prefesional economic and pedagogical competence of teachers to motivate high school students in the city of Pekanbaru. Muhibibin Shah (2007: 151) the factors that affect student motivation include the role of the professional teacher in the classroom that can affect a student's enthusiasm for learning. Professional teachers are teachers who have four competencies that can motivate students to study harder again to achieve the expected performance, two competencies that include professional competence and pedagogical competence of teachers. The method used in the research or the simultaneous use of multiple regression and partial correlation. The results showed that there are significant professional competence (X1) and pedagogical competence (X2) on motivation to learn (Y), with F count (13.246)> F table (3.220) on the Sig. 5%. It means that the level of student motivation is determined or influenced by low levels of high professional and pedagogical competence of teachers. The first partial correlation results, with t count (3,839)> t table (2.018) on the Sig. 5%. Meaning if pedagogical competence (X2) is constant, then the professional competence (X1) effect on student motivation (Y). Second partial correlation results, with t count (2,185)> t table (2.018) on the Sig. 5%. Meaning if professional competence (X1) is constant, then the pedagogical competence (X2) effect on student motivation (Y). It can be concluded that simultaneous and partial professional competence (X1) and pedagogical competence (X2) effect on student motivation (Y). So as to teachers to improve professional competence and pedagogical competence in the field of economic studies with training (training), improving education to a higher level, and multi-media workshop so that teachers are able to utilize information and communication technologies in learning and able to engage students in the use was resulting in students' motivation higher.
