Abstract:
The problem formulation in this study is "Can Communicative approach application enable to improve students speaking skills in grade Vb elementary school 113 Pekanbaru?” This study aims to improve students' speaking skills in fifth grade elementary school 113 Pekanbaru by using communicative approach. Forms of this study were Classroom Action Research (CAR). These actions were taken in November 2012. Results of this study showed an increase in the learning process. Preliminary data of students' speaking skills obtained average 53.03 with 21.88% passing grade (7 students). When communicative approach applied in the first cycle UH I, the value of the average speaking skills of students is 67.25, with 56.25% passing grade (18 students). The second Cycle UH II obtained average speaking skills of students is 80.78, with a 93.75% passing grade (30 students). Teacher activity cycle I in first meeting with a percentage of 63.89% (enough), increased in the second meeting with a percentage of 72.22% (excellent category). Then the second cycle in the first meeting with the percentage of 80.56% (excellent category) increased in the second meeting with a percentage of 91.67% (excellent category). Student activity cycle I in first meeting with a percentage of 52.78% (Uncategorized less), increased in the second meeting with a percentage of 66.67% (Uncategoriz ed enough). Then the second cycle in the first meeting with the percentage of 72.22% (excellent category), an increase in the second meeting with a percentage of 86.11% (excellent category). The hypothesis that “the communicative approach enable to improve students' speaking skills of fifth grade elementary school 113 Pekanbaru” categorized acceptable.
