Abstract:
The research was conducted in July 2012 at the mouth of Sungai Indragiri in Indragiri Hilir district. The research aims to determine the habitat and population distribution of blood clam (Anadara Granosa) in estuaries of Sungai Indragiri. Samples of blood clams has been taken at 5 stations using 2 plot size of 1x1 m2. Then the analysis carried out in the Laboratory of Integrated Department of Marine Sciences. Abundance highest blood clams were found at station 3 at 7.5 Ind/m2 and the lowest was at station 1 is 0.5 Ind/m2. For every distribution patterns of blood clams in estuaries of Sungai Indragiri station is calculated based on the distribution morisita index is clustered. The size distribution of blood clams in estuaries of Sungai Indragiri vary. Blood Shells large (3-5 cm) was found at each station and the most commonly found at station 5, while blood clams with a small size (<2.5 cm) was found in Station 1, Station 2 and Station 3 and the most widely found at station 3. The results showed that the substrate in estuaries Indragiri dominated by sand fraction, while the quality of its waters are in optimum condition for the life blood clams.
