dc.description.abstract Penerapan Model Pembelajaran Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) untuk Meningkatkan Keterampilan Menulis Deskripsi Siswa Kelas VA SD Negeri 37 Pekanbaru Oleh Oksastantia, Siska1, Otang Kurniaman2, Eddy Noviana3 ABSTRACT Background of the problems in this research is the students looked had no effort or did not try to be active in teaching process. It is showed from the number of students who do not achieve mastery of descriptive writing skills by the number of students who did not complete 33 students 84.61% and who did completed 6 students 15.38%. Formulation of the problem in this research is the implementation of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model can improve students’ Descriptive writing skills of class Va SDN 37 Pekanbaru. The subjects of this research were five grade students at SDN 37 Pekanbaru in 2012/2013 academic years which has 39 students. The research was conducted in two cycles, Cycle 1 is held in two meetings with one cycle I daily test. And the second cycle was also conducted two meetings and one cycle II daily test. The collection instrument in this study is the observation sheet teacher, student observation sheets, and daily tests. This study is aimed to improve students' descriptive writing skills of class Va SDN 37 Pekanbaru with the implementation of learning models of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL). Description writing skills acquired at the begining data with an average of 49 with a completion percentage of 15.38% scored ≥ 80. At cycle I daily test gained an average of 72.46 and the second cycle daily test in average gained 88 of 39 students. All teachers at the first meeting 67.5% increase in the second meeting 85%. So also at the fourth meeting of the 92.5% increase to 97.5%. Student activity from the first cycle of 42.5% increased 67% in the second meeting, as well as on the fourth meeting of 80% increasing to 95% at its fifth meeting. Thus, the hypothesis stated is if the learning models of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) is applied, it can improve the descriptive writing skills of students of class Va SDN 37 Pekanbaru is acceptable. en_US
