PENGARUH SUHU AKTIVASI FISIKA TERHADAP DAYA JERAP IODIN PADA ARANG CANGKANG BUAH KARET (Hevea brasiliensis) TERAKTIVASI KOH

Abstract

The high composition of fiber and carbon compounds (lignin, cellulose and hemicellulose) in rubber fruit shells, namely 98.99%, can be used to make activated charcoal. This study aims to turn rubber fruit shells into charcoal through a carbonization process at 400oC for 30 minutes. This research was conducted by means of chemical activation using 10% KOH and physical activation with variations in temperature (400; 500; 600)oC at time 45 minutes. The rubber fruit shell activated charcoal produced was characterized by determining adsorption capacity of iodine. The characterization results iodine adsorption capacity was 1.429,59 mg g-1. The iodine adsorption capacity have met the Standard SNI No. 06-3730-1995.
