dc.description.abstract |
The high composition of fiber and carbon compounds (lignin, cellulose and hemicellulose) in rubber
fruit shells, namely 98.99%, can be used to make activated charcoal. This study aims to turn rubber fruit
shells into charcoal through a carbonization process at 400oC for 30 minutes. This research was
conducted by means of chemical activation using 10% KOH and physical activation with variations in
temperature (400; 500; 600)oC at time 45 minutes. The rubber fruit shell activated charcoal produced
was characterized by determining adsorption capacity of iodine. The characterization results iodine
adsorption capacity was 1.429,59 mg g-1. The iodine adsorption capacity have met the Standard SNI
No. 06-3730-1995. |
