dc.description.abstract Physical activation temperature affects the adsorptive power of activated charcoal in rubber fruit shells. The higher the physical activation temperature, the more hydrocarbon compounds and organic compounds are lost in the physical activation process. In this research, the effect of physical activation temperature on the character of activated carbon synthesized from KOH-activated rubber fruit shells was studied. In this research, activation of rubber fruit shells using 15% KOH was followed by physical activation with temperature variations of 250°C, 300°C and 400°C. Several characters of activated carbon are determined including iodine adsorption capacity according to SNI no. 06-3730-1995. The results showed that the yield of activated carbon decreased as the physical activation temperature increased. The results showed that the adsorption capacity of iodine increased as the activation temperature increased. AA400 has the highest iodine adsorption capacity of 1176.782 mg g-1. en_US
