dc.description.abstract Wastewater pollution has become a serious environmental problem for the human and other living organisms. The source of waste could be originated from dye residues. Effluent from textile industry contain recalcitrant compounds that are difficult to degrade. One of the most widely used dyes is methylene blue. Different methods have been applied to cope with these compounds. Photocatalysis are considered as the most effective and efficient way to degrade dyes. In this study, the composite MnO2/Bentonite have been prepared as the catalyst by the reaction between KMnO4, glucose and bentonite. The as-synthesized composite was characterized by XRD for the determinate of crystal size and crystal phase. The XRD results indicated that the cryptomelane-type manganese oxide have been successfully obtained. The photocatalysis activity of MnO2/Bentonit was tested for degradation of methylene blue and the maximum degradation of 50 ppm methylene blue was 85.62% under conditions of methylene blue with pH=5 and 25 mg of MnO2/Bentonite for 120 minute. en_US
