Peat water has a high color intensity (brown red color), high acidity (low pH value). In
this study, peat water filtration was carried out using composite. The composites were
prepared using SIR 20 natural rubber as a matrix and activated carbon of candlenut
shells activated by 5% KOH. The manufacture of composite (KA) consisted of 100%
activated carbon as filler and a control consisting of 4 (four) sheets of matrix (SIR 20
natural rubber). Composites were applied for peat water filtration in Rimbo Panjang.
The results showed that the KA composite was able to reduce the color intensity by
32.60%, increasing the pH of the peat water sample from 3.66 to 7.01. This value is in
accordance with PERMENKES No. 32 of 2017 concerning “Environmental Health
Quality Standards and Water Health Requirements for Sanitary Hygiene Needs” |
