dc.description.abstract Peat soils are known to be rich in bacteria which can be used for fertility, such as exopolysaccharide-producing bacteria. Exopolysaccharides are the result of bacterial activity and are found outside the cell wall. This study aimed to determine the exopolysaccharide production by EPS5 and EPS7 bacteria isolated from peat soils. Exopolysaccharide production used the Nutrient Broth medium at pH 7 and pH 5 for three days incubation. The results of this study obtained that exopolysaccharide produced by EPS5 isolate was 33.9 mg/mL and EPS7 isolate was 15.03 mg/mL at pH 7. Exopolysaccharide production from EPS7 isolate was 23.73 mg/mL while from EPS5 isolate was 18.73 mg/mL at pH 5. These two bacteria could be developed as biological fertilizer agents in peat soils. en_US
