    Distribution of Barnacle (Balanus spp) on The Pole of Harbour PT. Persero Indonesia Sibolga North Sumatera

    A Study on the distribution and abundance of biofouling, Barnacles (Balanus spp) were conducted in May 2012. The objective of the study was to find out and analyze the distribution of the barnacle in relation to currents, depth of water. It revealed that current velocity affected the abundance in that greater current velocity brought about lower abundance. It addition, the abundance of Barnacles (Balanus spp) were higher on the subsurface compared to that on the above surface of water. This differences were due to food supply and duration of filtering activity of Barnacles (Balanus spp).
