Item AN ANALYSIS OF DIFFICULTIES FACING INDONESIAN LEARNERS IN ACQUIRING ENGLISH SPOKEN COMPETENCE(2014-06-26) DahnilsyahThis paper is an attempt to discuss obstacles and constraints encountering EFL learners in Indonesia in their endeavour gaining English spoken competence. It reveals that acquiring oral communication skill in English which serve as a foreing language is a long and complex undertaking. Majority of Indonesian learners still experience troubles due to psychological and social factors. The former refers to the issues related to the learners themselves who need a lot of struggle to develop both their motivation and self confidence. The former is concerned with the surroundig atmosphere and people that often hamper learners to achieve competence in spoken English. Both psychological and social problems should receive much attention from the stake holders who get involved in the enhancement quality program of English instruction. Suggestions and solutions are therefore have been put forward and need considerable efforts and persistence to put them in to practice.Item An Analysis of Interpersonal Attitudes through Dormitory-based Education of Teacher Candidates: Participants of Teachers Pre-Service Professional Training Program-Bachelors Degree Graduates, Teaching in the Frontier, Outlying and Underdeveloped Regions (PPG-SM3T), Riau University(wahyu sari yeni, 2017-08-24) Yustina; DahnilsyahThis study investigated interpersonal attitude through dormitory-based life of PPG-SM3T participants and was conducted from March to September, 2015. It had 2 periods. Each periods lasted for 3 months. Total sampling technique was applied with 64 participated in this study. They represented Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Economics fild studies and were divided in to 5 groups. Parameters in this study covered 9 items for interpersonal attitudes. The employed data analysis was descriptive: in the forms of means and percentages. The findings demonstrated that the mean score was ≥ 3,6: In the 1st period, the creative score reached 71,88% and improved to be 84,38% in the 2nd period. Discipline attitude in the 1st period was 76,56% and improved 100% in the second period. The score for courtesy in the 1st period was 84,37% and increased 100% in the 2nd period. Disciplined, courteous and creative attitudes in the 1st period need guidance. After following guidance in the 2nd period, only creative attitude need guidance. This study concludes that such guidance is effective to build interpersonal attitudes.Item Creativity of SM3T Participants at Riau University in Developing Knowledge Using Project-Based Learning at Lany Jaya, Papua, Indonesia(wahyu sari yeni, 2017-08-24) Yustina; DahnilsyahThis study examined the creativity forms as applied to the teachers teaching at SM3T regions using Project-Based Learning (Pj-B and learners’ academic achievement at Lany Jaya Regency, Papua, Indonesia. Total sampling technique was decided to be applied because of 100% attendance of learners throughout the course of lesson. 32 participants got involved in this study. They were disperesed in to 4-5 people in 7 disctricts at 7 elementary schools: 4 participants taught in Tiom district; 5 taught in Poga district; 4 in Nokapoka district; 5 in Maki district; 5 in Indawa district; 5 in Guapaka district and 4 in Dome district.The data were collected by test and questionnaire. The former was intended to the learners of 7 schools and latter was administered to the SM3T participants. Total population who test were 450 learners of first to fourth grade of 7 districts. Parameters applied in this research were: A) Creativity in developing knowledge that covers 4 indicators: 1. Forms of innovations, 2. Idea originality, 3. Idea varieties B) Learners’ achievement. Data on creativity were collected in form of observation sheet based on peer assessment. Meanwhile, the learners’ achievement were gathered by test sheets. It was analyzed by referring to the score ranges, then the scores were converted and tabulated, finally they were descriptively discussed. Findings indicate that four creativity indicators were grouped in to good level.This study concluded that Project-Based Learning model was proved to be effective to build creativity of SM3T participants and improve the learners’ achievement at Lanny Jaya Regency, Papua Province, Indonesia
