Item EFEKTIFITAS KARBOKSIMETIL KITOSAN SEBAGAI INHIBITOR KOROSI BAJA LUNAK DALAM AIR GAMBUT(2014-03-10) Erna, Maria; Emriadi; Alif, Admin; Arief, SyukriCarboxymethyl chitosan (CMC) was synthesized using method by Pang (2007) and characterized by Fourier transform Infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). Based spectrum shape FT-IR that CMC was synthesized had spectrum shape same with reference. The inhibiting influence of CMC on the corrosion of mild steel in peat water was studied using weight loss methods. It was found that corrosion inhibition efficiency was dependent on water pH, inhibition technique and interaction time. It was found that corrosion inhibition efficiency was dependent on water pH, inhibition technique and interaction time. Results obtained revealed that KMK inhibition efficiency at optimum, i.e., 93,66%. The inhibition was assumed to occur via physicsorption of the CMC molecules on the metal surface with value Goads 17,055 kJ mol-1. The Langmuir adsorption isotherm was tested for their fit to the experimental data. The apparent activation energies for the corrosion reaction was determined using Arrhenius plots for the steel corrosion rateItem STUDI INTERAKSI DAN KARAKTERISASI KITIN DAN KITOSAN DENGAN ION Fe(2014-03-10) Erna, Maria; Emriadi; Alif, Admin; Arief, SyukriTelah dipelajari interaksi kitin dan kitosan dengan ion Fe berdasarkan afinitas pengikatan, perubahan bentuk spektrum dari gugus fungsinya menggunakan Fourier transform Infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) dan bentuk morfologi permukaan partikel menggunakan Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan interaksi kitin dan kitosan dipengaruhi oleh konsentrasi awal Fe, pH, jumlah massa dan waktu interaksi. Makin besar konsentrasi awal Fe maka afinitas pengikatan makin besar dan sebaliknya makin besar massa kitin dan kitosan maka makin menurun afinitas pengikatannya. Afinitas pengikatan minimum kitin dengan ion Fe adalah 11,7 ppm/mg dengan bentuk spektrum FT-IR kitin tidak banyak mengalami perubahan. Sedangkan berdasarkan foto SEM permukaan partikel kitin setelah berinteraksi dengan ion Fe terlihat permukaannya banyak yang mulus dan sedikit pori-porinya. Untuk afinitas pengikatan minimum kitosan adalah 12,64 ppm/mg dan bentuk spektrum FT-IR terjadi pergeseran absorban -OH dan puncak –NH2 terjadi perpendekan. Sedangkan foto SEM permukaan partikel kitosan setelah berinteraksi dengan ion Fe terlihat permukaan kitosan berpori tetapi jumlahnya sedikit, sehingga ion Fe lebih banyak diserap.Item SYNTHESIS PRECIPITATED CALCIUM CARBONATE (PCC) USING LISIN AS DIRECTING AGENT(2014-05-21) Yanti, Pepi Helza; Jamarun, Novesar; Arief, SyukriSynthesis Precipitated Calcium Carbonate have done using lisin as source of amino acid with modification of caustic soda method. The limestone are first calcinated by XRF to analysis composition of limestone. The result showed CaO of limestone 55,26%. Analysis using FT-IR proved a pure crystal without contain lisin. Analysis using XRD showed optimum peak 2θ = 29,48300 .The particle size of lisin 0,05 M 68,56 nm with 88.21% calsit and 11.79% vaterit while particle size of Lisin 0.150 M 57.13 nm with 80.12% calsit and 19.89% vaterit. Based on our research proved that lisin can be used as directing agent to produce PCC. Key words: calcination, caustic soda , directing agent, lisin, PCC
