dc.description.abstract Bamboo includes in Bambusoidae and Poaceae family. Indonesia approximately has 11.55% of 1,439 species and 116 genus of bamboo in the world. This research aimed to determine morphology characteristics of genus Gigantochloa of Bamboo in Reteh District, Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau Province. The data was collected by exploring directly into location to find, collect, and characterize the Bamboo plant. Reteh District had two types of Gigantochola genus bamboo, namely G. serik and G. hasskarliana. Morphological characteristics that distinguished between three types of bamboo plants included rhizome roots, bamboo shoots, culms, culm sheat, branching, and leaves sheath. en_US
