Abstract:
Rubber seed coat (Hevea brasiliensis) has cellulose and lignin as a carbon source, which potentially used of adsorbent. This study aimed to change rubber seed coat (CBK) into charcoal by carbonization. Carbonization carried out at 300oC for 30 minutes. Characterization resulted showed that CBK charcoal adsorbent has 1.79% of moisture content and 1.12% ash content. CBK charcoal adsorbent was used peat water after coagulation treatment. The results peat water after coagulation of adsorption using CBK charcoal adsorbents were able to decrease 84% turbidity, 29.21% color and 15.63% organic content. It is demonstrated that rubber seed coat is a good source of raw material for producing high capacity of adsorbent in turbidity parameter based on PERMENKES RI No.416/MENKES/PER/IX/1990.
