Abstract
The problem in this study is the low student learning outcomes. This study aims to
improve science learning outcomes of students through problem-based learning
model of instruction at the elementary school students of class V 175 Pekanbaru
school year 2011/2012. The research was conducted in May 2012 by the number of
students 38 people, 17 male students and 21 female students design the amount of
research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) parameters measured were the result
of student learning activities of teachers and student activities. The observations on
the first meeting of the first cycle showed fairly good activity teachers (62.5%) and at
the second meeting (72.5%) for student activities at the first meeting (65%)
categorized quite well and at the second meeting (72.5%) were categorized quite
well. For Cycle II observations of teacher activity increased at a meeting with both
categories (77.5%) and the second meeting considered very good (85%) and
according to plan. For students at the first meeting activities are categorized both
(80%) and in accordance with the planning for the event with a bunch of students also
increased both categories (85%). It can be concluded that with the implementation of
problem-based learning model
