Abstract:
Endophytic bacteria are bacteria that live in plant tissue and are unpathogenic to cell host. These bacteria can get into the plant tissue through injured plant tissue or bacteria can produce cellulase enzyme to degrade plant cell walls that contain cellulose.Cellulase is an enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis ofβ-1-4-glycosidic bond of
cellulose. A total of nineteen isolates endophytic bacteria were inoculated onto medium
containing 1% carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC). The six isolates have grown well which
indicated that it has cellulase activity i.e. LBKURCC 45, LBKURCC 48, LBKURCC
53, LBKURCC 54, LBKURCC 59, and LBKURCC 60.
