Criteria Wood Type Selection As Jalur Material Based On Society Perception In Kecamatan Kuantan Hilir Seberang Kabupaten Kuantan Singingi

Abstract

Pacu jalur is kind of traditional boat race in Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing). This race used jalur made of certain big wood. By now, people in the local area have difficulty in getting material for jalur. Therefore, it is need to cultivate wood which can be used for jalur material. The aim of this research is to identify kind of wood used by society as jalur material, and identify the favorite ones. This research did a survey and interview to the respondent, based on quesioner and interview guide. Result of research indicate that the favorite wood for jalur material in Kecamatan Kuantan Hilir Seberang Kabupaten Kuansing is Anisoptera costata Korth, Shorea leprosula Miq, Shorea conica V.SL. Criteria of wood used for jalur making is : 25-35 m high, 60-200 cm in diameter, 21-30 m lenght, and straight level 80%.
