Abstract:
The aim of this research is to find out the style of parents as scavengers
educating children (the study for scavengers ad TPA-S, Kecamatan Siak Hulu who had
school-age children). This research is descriptive quantitative and to gather the data
used the questionaire with 37 items. Population in this research is all parents who
having a school-age child consist of 27 people. The sample of the research is all
population, 27 people. An instrument used in this research is a questionaire with a
statement about the style of parents as scavengers educating children), arranged by
using four scale. Alternative answers of each item four categories (very often) with
score 4, (often) with score 3, (sometimes) with score 2, (never) with score 1. The result
showed that: the style of parent as scavengers educatting their children, the dominant
style of parent educating their chindren is an authoritative/ democracy with the mean
of 2,83 and standard deviations of 12,99. Indicators authoritarian with mean of 2.44 and
standard deviations of 9.6. Indicators permissive with mean of 2,40 and standard
deviations of 9,59. And indicators rejecting/ neglecting with the mean of 2.30 and
standard deviations of 8.3.
