Abstract:
This research purposed to increase mathematics learning outcome of students on the class V-C SD
Negeri 161 Pekanbaru by applying Bruner Theory. Subject of this research are students on the
class V-C SD Negeri 161 Pekanbaru with amount 39 people, consist of 21 male students and 18
female students. The research is Classroom Action Research, consist of three cycles. Cycle I
consist of three times meeting and once daily repetition, cycle II consist of twice meeting and once
daily repetition, cycle III consist of twice meeting and once daily repetition. Research instruments
including peripheral of study (syllabus, RPP, LKS), observation sheets of teacher and students
activities. Result data of research analyzed descriptively. The data is quantitative data.
Formulation of problem is “Is applying Bruner Theory can increase the mathematics learning
outcome of students on the class V-C SD Negeri 161 Pekanbaru?” Quantitative data obtained
from test of student’s understanding through cycle repetitions. In basic score , complete percentage
of students was 25,64%, in cycle I increased to 76,92%, in cycle II increased to 79,48%, and in
cycle III increased to 84,61%. The mean in basic score was 69,28, in cycle I increased to 79,27, in
cycle II increased to 85,24, and in cycle increased 85,68. Besides,also happened the increase of
teacher and student activities. Improvement percentage of teacher activities in cycle I was 90,90%,
in cycle II increase to 96,58%, and in cycle III increase to 97,82%. Improvement percentage of
student activities in cycle I was 85,60%, in cycle II increased to 92,04%, and in cycle III increased
to 96,58%. It can be concluded that by applying Bruner Theory can increase the mathematics
learning outcome of students on the class V-C SD Negeri 161 Pekanbaru.
