Abstract:
The research was conducted at SMA Negeri 2 Kuantan Hilir. The Subject of the researce is students of class X1. There are 34 students in the class, consisting 17 girls and 17 boys who have the academic ability of the heterogeneous. The purpose of this research is to improve students' mathematics learning outcomes, particularly on the material quadratic equations by applying Learning Cycle 5E. This research is an action researce. There are two cycles and four stages in this study. Each cycle has four stages, they are planning, action, observation, and reflection. The results of research showed that the improvement of students learning achievement. The percentage of first cycle showed that students who get minimum achievement criteria (KKM) is 61.76% and the second cycle was 70.59%, an increase from the prior action only 38.24% percentage. The conclusion of the study showed that the implementing of Learning Cycle 5E, can improve students' mathematics learning outcomes in class X1 SMA Negeri 2 Kuantan Hilir, especially in the subject matter in the quadratic equation semester academic year 2012/2013.
