Abstract:
Moringa oleifera is a plant that belongs to the Moringaceae family. This plant
grows quickly and its resistant to drought, therefore it can grow in tropical,
subtropical and arid regions. This study aims to determine the secondary
metabolites contained in the methanol extract of M. oleifera stem bark through
phytochemical tests and analyze its toxicity using the brine shrimp lethality test
(BSLT) method. The results of the phytochemical test the methanol extract of M.
oleifera stem bark showed the presence of secondary metabolites of steroid and
phenolic groups. The results of the toxicity test using the BSLT method showed
that this extract was toxic to A. salina shrimp larvae with an LC50 value of 118,50
ppm.
