Abstract:
In this study catalyst ZnO/Bentonite variation10 g using hyacinth plant extract (E.E.G)
have been synthesized by carrying out the reaction between ZnCl2, bentonite and water
hyacinth extract using precipitation methods. Composite was characterrized by XRD,
UV-DRS and FT-IR. The XRD results indicated that the crystal size of ZnO and
ZnO/Bentonite-E.E.G composites is 41.01 and 0.781 nm. UV-DRS Characterization
results have a band gap 3,21 and 1,98 eV. The optimum composite used in the
degradation of methylene blue was the ZnO/Bentonit-E.E.G composite variation od 10
g at mass of 100 mg with a degradation efficiency of 92,01% in 105 minutes compared
to ZnO with a degradation efficiency of 28,43%. It can be concluded that the
ZnO/Bentonit-E.E.G composite has the potential as a catalyst in degradation methylene
blue.
