Abstract:
Hydrazone is an imine derivative compound that has an azomethin group (-NHN=CH)
has various bioactivity such as anticancer agent. The hydrazone compound (E)-2-((E)-
3-(4-methoxyphenyl)-1-(naphthalene-1-yl)alliliden)-N-phenylhydrazinecarbotioamide
has been successfully synthesized in a two step reaction. The reaction begins with the
formation of chalcone (E)-3-(4-methoxyphenyl)-1-(naphtalene-1-yl)-prop-2-en-1-one
by reacting 1-acetylnaphthalene and 4-methoxybenzaldehyde using the microwave
method with a power of 180 watt. Then the chalcone is reacted with 4-
phenylthiosemicarbazide to produce the target compound using a hydrochloric acid
catalyst. The target compound synthesis method used is reflux at a temperature of 70-
80°C. The purity of the compound was determined using the TLC test, melting point,
and HPLC analysis. The structure of the synthesized compound was confirmed by UV,
FTIR, NMR, and HRMS spectroscopic studies. The result obtained from the synthesis
of HDZ-1NFT-4FTS was 23.42%.
