Abstract:
Methylene blue is an organic dye that is widely used in various industries such as
textile, paints, plastic and pharmaceuticals. Methylene blue is very stable so it is very
difficult to degrade in nature and harmful to the environment. The aim of this research
was to optimize pH of the solution and silver nanoparticles dosage in methylene blue
removal. The synthesis of silver nanoparticles was carried out by adding sodium citrate
as a reducing and stabilizing agent. The pH optimization was carried out with variations
of pH 1, 2, 3 dan 4. The silver nanoparticles dosage optimization was carried out with
variation of dosage 2, 4, 6 and 8 mg. The results showed that pH 2 and 6 mg silver
nanoparticles were chosen as the optimum parameter. The silver nanoparticles
synthesized by sodium sitrate was effectively remove the methylene blue 61,42%.
