Abstract:
The epiphytic plant Pyrrosia lanceolata belongs to the Polypodiaceae family. Studies on
P. lanceolata are still under-reported, especially their bioactivity, whereas P. petiolosa,
P. sheareri and P. lingua have been studied for the isolation of secondary metabolites and
their bioactivity as anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant. The result showed percentage
inhibition of α-glucosidase methanol extract was 32.25%, n-hexane 19.15%,
dichloromethane 10.52%, ethyl acetate 72.79% and for acarbose 99.79%. Based on
percentage inhibition values obtained ethyl acetate extract has better activity than extracts
methanol, n-hexane and dichloromethane in inhibiting α-glucosidase but less well than the
positive control acarbose.
