Abstract:
This article discusses the combination of the Halley and Potra-Ptak (MHP) methods
which are the result of the combination of two iteration methods, namely the Halley
and Potra-Ptak methods to solve nonlinear equations. The convergence analysis
shows that the MHP has a convergence order of nine. The basin of attraction of
the MHP is provided to visually demonstrate the behavior of the method. The
computational results of MHP and several other iteration methods which have the
same order of convergence show that MHP can be used as an alternative method to
solve nonlinear equations.
