Abstract:
Hydrazone is a substitution product of stable imine type which has a basic structure
(R1-HC=N-NH-R2). The izometine (-HC=N-NH-) group in hydrazones plays a role in their
biological activity for the design and development of drugs. In this study, the synthesis of
the compound synthesized N'1,N'3-bis((E,Z)-3-bromobenzilydene)malonohydrazide
(DB-3Br) was from the condensation reaction between malonohydrazide and
3-bromobenzaldehyde catalyzed by acetic acid. This compound was synthesized using the
method of stirring and heating (reflux) at a temperature of 50-60℃. The purity of the
compound was determined using the TLC test, melting point measurement, and HPLC
analysis. The structure of the synthesized compound was confirmed by UV and FTIR
spectroscopic analysis. The result of this research is that the compound DB-3Br was
successfully synthesized with a yield of 71,76%. The bioactivity of the compound was DB-
3Br tested for its toxicity using the BSLT method. LC50 value of the compound was 48,881
μg/mL. So it can be concluded that the compound DB-3Br is toxic and can be carried out
further pharmacological test.
